Mikko Pajunen will compete in his first ever IRC event this weekend. The Finn from Jyväskylä and his co-driver Kaj Lindström take on the roads of Targa Florio Rally in Sicily, Italy, in Renault Twingo Evo. The rally is part of the Italian Championship season which Pajunen is driving in addition to the Finnish Rally Championship.

- This rally is on asphalt. The road surface is somewhat slippery, it feels dusty. Also it has been very hot, so it's going to be interesting to see what the driving conditions will be. The tyres shouldn't be a problem even though it's hot, says Pajunen.

Pajunen is third in the overall standings of the Italian Championship (Twingo Cup). Now he aims for victory.

- We aim for it, of course. Driving the shakedown felt pretty good. It's not too difficult to recall the tricks of driving on asphalt after a small break. Everything looks good beforehand. The car worked well too, says Pajunen.

The event starts on Thursday and continues until Saturday. There are 11 stages. The rally HQ is in Palermo.
