11.6.2012 Mikko Pajunens race ended on the roof in Lapua

Mikko Pajunen Lapua Crash
Mikko Pajunen and his co-driver Kaj Lindströms race in the Finnish rally championship summer opener ended before it even had properly started. In the Lapua event Pajunen had to retire on the first stage due to a roll.

- There were a couple of right corners after each other, and even the first one went a bit wide. In the next one I hit a rock, which made the car fly. It span around a couple of times before it landed on its roof. There were no spectators there so we couldnt get it back on the road. Its a bit of a shame really. We tried to go fast from the start, so that we wouldnt have to wonder at the end of the stage whether we could have done it faster. But even then our speed wasnt risky, told Pajunen.

Pajunen is still third in the overall standings in his Tommi Mäkinen Racing Subaru. The victory in Lapua went to Esapekka Lappi. Lappi has won every Finnish rally event this season and is in the overall lead with maximum points.

Pajunen continues his season next weekend in IRC championship event in Sicily, Italy. There he drives in Renault Twingo Evo.
